Black grill on red vrs....

Featured Replies

All right guys. Just flicking through the forum and noticed people have paited the chrome surrond black. Must say looks mint...

But what you guys painting it black with?

Cheers,

Gaz

I just used halfors paint! :D - Grey Pimer, pearlescent black/black magic and some lacquer!

Job done!

Sorry to threadjack slightly, I have just done mine with the same paint ans laquer from halfrauds. Roughly how long did you leave yours to dry before the laquer was hard enough to safely clip the surround back into the grill?

errr an hour or so I think? Probably not long enought but seems fine?

left mine in the kitchen overnight and even now my finger prints mark the laquer if i press on. gunna leave it off a couple of days to fully harden.

or get a hairdryer on it

It does look good having that in black - must admit I assumed it was an off the shelf part, didn't realise it was a DIY paint job.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like some of you guys have painted tem matt black. Same colour as the grill.

I take you use plastic primer aswell?

Its rubbed down, plastic primed, base coated then laquered :)

I think it looks the nuts, did the headlights and number plate bit body colour too.

Adlav that looks good because you car is the same colour as the car. But with red I think it will look a bit odd if a paint it the same colour as yours. Probably do it in satin black to match the grill and number plate surround.

Cheers

Shiny or gloss black can look good on a red car... my old Ibiza had a debadged grill with anthracite surround, looked good, will find a pic if I can :)

Here ya go...
