4 wheel Laser alignment - What settings

Featured Replies

Ok, as I have my VRS on coilovers what settings should the Camber, Caster, Toe etc be.

If I read the Haynes Manual it gives 3 options.

Standard

Sports Suspension

Heavy Duty Suspension

Camber listed as :

Std Suspenision -30' +/- 30'

Sport Suspension -33' +/- 30'

Heavy Duty Susp -16' +/- 30'

Caster listed as:

Std Suspenision 7" 40' +/- 30'

Sport Suspension 7" 50' +/- 30'

Heavy Duty Susp 7" 15' +/- 30'

Are coilovers Heavy duty or Sport suspension. The Garage set mine with Sports Suspension settings.

Just want to be sure so not to wear tyres out and also handling is best sorted.

Cheers

Mark.

This would really depend on spring and damper rates for each of the 3 standard version, and on the rates and selected ride height for the coilovers.

Thought this might be the case

The Spring Poundage rate is 1020lbs I believe. I have Weitec Hicon GT's. Lowered 25mm.

As mine was set to Sport suspension and seems ok I may leave it set as that. But wanted other folks advise and what their setting is when they went for alignment.

Well, the ranges on camber overlap anyway. Do you want better cornering grip at the expense of a touch of edginess and some inside edge wear in a straight line, or even tyre wear and good stability, but less cornering grip? Go to the high limit on camber for better cornering, and the lower for better stability.

Caster really only affects steering weight and self-centring response, with more causing heavier steering and stronger self-centring.

As for toe settings, are you running anything wider than the usual 205 or 225 width tyres? If so you're on your own there, but if you're in that range I'd leave toe standard.

Thanks for your response. I have 225x40x18 tyres. I prefer the cornering grip .

Something to consider then.

Thanks for this boys. Will bear it in mind on Friday when I'm having mine done.
