towbar probs on vrs

Featured Replies

hi everyone i am new to this site and skodas, ive just bought an octavia vrs on an 06 plate in black and need to fit a towbar but dont like the look of them so have decided to go for a detachable one.The problem i am having is i dont understand about this dedicated wiring kit ive seen on the towbar sites,do i need one of these because they are expensive for this model.i will only be towing a little trailor and not a caravan. Can anyone help please.thanks:rolleyes:

Not only are the kits expensive they are pretty tricky to fit too.........and yes you do need one as far as I am aware. If you use a cheap wiring kit from say Halfords and just splice the wires it will play havoc with your bulb warning system. Spend the money and get the proper kit, it will be worth it in the long run. I have a Westfalia detachable tow bar with the genuine Skoda wiring kit and it is superb.

you dont need a specific wiring kit for the oct 2, i fitted an electronic box in the n/s/r of the boot ( hidden) which takes the voltage but draws a very low ampage, which dosen,t bring any faults upon the dash. carn,t for the life of me remember what its called but you can buy it at any motor factors. cheers mat:)
