problem is its now in the garage getting a water pump timing belt done for that error code that looks like it wont be fixed

Temperature sensor would be my first choice. If it was a thermostat it would be running either cold or too hot and for the water pump impellor slipping on the shaft it would tend to get hot very quickly when driving at higher speeds.

could replacing the water pump do anything for that error code pal or is the garage barking up wrong tree pal. just another thing with you sayong about it heating up very quicky my mate was standing talking to me outside the car the other day and he mentioned that engine seemed to be throwing a lot of heat of

I'd say that replacing the water pump will not fix that error, though I'd like to be proved wrong. If they are replacing the water pump, they may as well put a cam belt kit on it as well, as this is an expense which you'll have to incur sooner or later.

With regard to the engine seeming to give out a lot of heat, that's subjective, as with the present ambient temperatures and the possibility that your air conditioning was running, with fans sucking air through two radiators and blowing the extracted heat around, it will seem a little hotter than usual.
