Octavia II Service

Featured Replies

Hi

I bought all the gear to service my octavia II however I got stuck a the first hurdly when attempting to change the oil as my previous car's sump was exposed unlike this skoda (which i have only had for 2 weeks). Anyway, i got as far as removing the little torque screws from each side of the cover on the underside of the car however there are 3 other ones which appear to be different however the car wasn't jacked up so i couldn't see what they were, does anybody know?

Also, i noticed a big rubber seal that comes with the oil filter, where abouts does this go? And what size nut is the sump plug?

I have it booked in for a cam belt as it has 77k on it and apparently it was due at 75,000, would you recomend that i get the water pump change at the same time?

What else should i have done at this mileage?

Thanks

Sorry mrkh2009 but I don't yet own a Skoda so can't really help you. In fact I haven't done any servicing myself on a car for a long time but if you do wish to do it yourself then I'd advise you to invest in a good manual as well as the tools.

The rubber seal on a MK II TDI goes around the lid that sits above the filter. It will be obvious as you have to take the old one off.

The filter cover requires a 36mm socket IIRC and I don't bother going underneath and use a Pela Pump.

There are torx head srews all the way around the under tray.

There is also 3 torx head screws along the back of the tray. Don't know the size but they are bigger than the ones at the sides.

The bottom of the plastic oil filter housing is 36mm. (Or big grips if your stuck!)

The rumbber washer goes into the plastic filter housing. You'll see it when it's off or look at the instructons on the box.

Unsure of the size of the sump plug but it's a socket. Not very big.

Hope this helps!
