Warning light came on on my 01 Octy VRS,

was second Lambda sensor, and when got underneath the wires looked like had been cut and joined before where wires got a bit scorched near exhaust, but had frayed and were only just n just connected still, so swapped this last night.

now i have driven about 10/15 miles. it drives perfectly, but it did before too?

will the light go off if this was the problem? or does it need to be reset with Vag com?

The light will go off if the fault doesn't re-occur within a certain number of engine starts. Can't remember how many or if it varies with the type of fault.

ah ok, I will hang on a bit before paying a tenner to local guy to reset light then lol
