Lowering Springs - Update

Featured Replies

Well, it's all go :)

Went into the dealer's today to ask them to check a couple of minor things (i.e. one of my windscreen washers has died!), and booked car in to have the springs changed.

Bit of a shame that it won't be until the start of June, but they're booked up quite badly, and I wanted to wait until after payday so I could afford it all :D

Looks like it should take 2 1/2 hours to change all four... and they reckoned that although it may have an effect on the "suspension warranty" it didn't seem like there would be a problem with the warranty overall... so result really... :)

I'm booked in for wednesday to get mine changed. It does seem quite a big job though!

So hopefully my Fab will be looking the part ready for the RR day and the Midlands meet, as long as I can escape this family gathering thing on the Sunday. :(

Where are you having the springs fitted by the way ? I can't afford any changes just yet on the Octavia, but am interested to know how they are all the same.

AMD in Bicester near Oxford. Will hopefully all be sorted for the 24th! :)

Its good to see that the warranty won't be badly affected by the new springs. That gives me confidence to go out and buy that eibach pro-kit I've been drooling over. Guess I'm gonna have to wait until pay-day too - I've got to tax the bloody thing at the end of this month too :( (although, I mustn't grumble - Its only

Jason,

Make sure you check with the dealer before you buy the springs, just in case they're not as forgiving as my local guys!

Alternatively, hang on for a few weeks until mine are on the car so I can provide some proper feedback :D

*bump*

Springs are being fitted on Monday, so will give some feedback after the "test drive" on the way home from the dealer :D

It would be interesting to see the results!

I'm still trying to get used to mine- although now they are bedded in a bit it doesnt seem quite so different now.

Apart from the firmer ride, the sensation of being lower to the ground is weird at first.

The only other downside is that I seem to get challenged by every boy racer Saxo and Nova I come accross. :D

I'll have to try and take some before and after pictures :D

They guy I spoke to at my local dealer seemed almost excited about getting to change the springs on a fabia (they've not done one before), so I'm hoping they'll do a top job :)

I've logged a call at my dealer regarding the springs. The main problem now is they said my 40K service is going to be

Jason,

You might want to consider 3rd party discs and pads, possibly better quality than the Skoda's manf parts, but if not certianly better value. See the discounts section and sejoc.

Re warranty, Tis only discs and pads, should be okay, as there not covered by the main warranty anyway, you've done the wheels ....

3rd party - I'm going to look into that. cheers.

edit : (thought I'd edit rather than do another post...)

I've got the number for that SEJOC company. Do you reckon I could save money if I got the bits from Sejoc and got the dealer to fit them? The dealer quoted about

fit them yourself? :D

I highly recommend Sejoc, their prices are very reasonable for this sort of stuff. Dealer should charge no more than 1 hours labour for this, I mean, I can do the fronts in less than 30 minutes so a dealer should have no problems at all

Jon

Fit myself???? I think not... If I got a mechanic mate to fit them, would Skoda be a bit p*ssed off with me and try and put me in some S.H.I.T with the warranty? I'd be happy to try that route, if Skoda aren't going to mess me about... :)

edit: Rung Sejoc, and they're bits are very expensive.
