My Detailing Tuition Day

Featured Replies

I'm really getting into Detailing and would like to go pro eventually.

So to develop my skills I went for a detailing tuition day where you work alongside a fellow detailer with oodles of experience and you detail your own car. So your killing too birds with one stone... Getting the Car detailed and learning all about it.

Anyway it was a fantastic day but a long one, Where Dave teaches you really well and by the time I had left I felt that I have the confidence to do other peoples cars no problems at all.

Check out the thread here: Skoda Fabia VRS Tuition Detail - Detailing World

cool! Expensive?? (or is that cheeky?)

(EDIT - managed to work the pop up blocker - £50 for the day, not bad at all...)

No it wasnt £50 for the day. Thats just for his Rotary or DA polishing days which are not one to one, and only focus on those machines, This day consisted of the whole detailing process and the use of Both Rotary and DA.

Looks like a good day out Paul and fair play for taking the next step........

thats very clean! nice work paint looks nice and rich again

It certainly does look rich again, it really is amazing how over the years you dont notice the paint deteriorating but it was good to see it come back to life.

Just a shame though as we are now trading her in.

It's all good experience though mate and at least they can't say there is anything wrong with the paintwork now.......

Very true mate, I got to learn on the old girl so now I have the confidence to do the new one plus the dealer added £200 to the trade in price if it was detailed so its all good really.

Looks like a very worthwhile day - and you certainly got your money's worth if it was nearly midnight when you finished! What time did you start?

Car looks fantastic too - and as you say you've learnt plenty of skills that you can put into practice on the new one.

So out of interest, are you going to use a DA polisher on the new car. or did the day give you the confidence to take the plunge and go straight for a rotary?

you would probarbly get closer to 2000 more than a dealer trade in price lookin that nice! (exagerated i know!)

how come you dont sell her private and slap more cash at the new motor?

i think i will be asking about these training days shortly after speaking to baker and seing your results(Y)

Yeah you certainly do get your monies worth, He has an hourly rate with a ceiling price limit and in his words its to stop people clock watching and just enjoying the day. Start time was 08:30 and we went for lunch around 12:30 to a local truck cafe, I'm used to those seen as I'm a truck driver

Yeah it certainly has given me the confidence to go on and do my new car, its even given me the confidence to do other peoples cars too and I have been doing a Range Rover just this weekend.

No I wont be using a DA on the new motor I'll be using my Milwaukee rotary that I got for my birthday, I didnt take too much to the DA it is a very noisy, vibrating machine where as the rotary is just noisy.

We're not selling her private as frankly she has high mileage for her age and the dealer were offering £4500 for her which to me is only £500 less than what I reckon she could be worth privately and to be honest its a lot less hassle than trying to sell her on and potentially not having a replacement temp car.

You should try one of the training days you learn a lot, the only issue for me was the long drive to dundee and back. But dont think you will learn everything as I found out whilst doing this Range Rover............
