New Tyres, but

Featured Replies

… which ones?

I'm going to be driving to the Loire Valley, France, in September for our family holiday and I'm estimating that this will coincide with a tyre change. I've only got Federals on at the moment which are OK, but not great for grip, and a bit noisy, so actually, they're 5hite  I bought them before I knew anything about anything :o

Anyway, I have wittled my choice down to four:

1. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric

2. Falken FK452

3. Hankook K415/K105/K107 S1 EVO/K110 V12 EVO (I don't know the difference between these, but I know the V12's did well in recent German tyre tests)

4. Kumho KU31 ECSTA SPORT

So which one's are safest and quietest in Briskodians' opinion?

I thought Toyos had gone out of favour?

I can give the Goodyears a big:thumbup:. I've had some on all round for about 9000 miles and they are amazing tyres. Both wet weather and dry grip are impressive and I can enter corners carrying far more speed than I used to on the Contis that were fitted when new.

I'll run out of talent before they run out of grip I reckon. They were about £89 from Camskill this time last year and I had them fitted locally.

An excellent choice!

The tyre debate rages on, but in my experience, and 2000 miles on, these Toyos are excellent for me. I have a standard Octy VRS, and grip is excellent, noise is surprisingly not evident at low or high speed.

Go with the Hankook V12's, they get my vote, got them on my car. The wifes car has got the Goodyear Asymmetric which is a good tyre but when you look at the price difference between the Hankook and the Goodyear on camskills website, the Hankook win it.

I knew this would be a horses for courses thing. Maybe I could do a vote thingy?

Mods, how do I set up a vote? Ta

Have you thought about Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas? They get good write ups on here (Octavia sections). I can't comment on them because those and the Goodyear Asymmetrics only start from 17 inch and above, which is no good for my Furby.

From your selection and in keeping with your aims of "safest and quietest" I would say the F1As.

I've just bought some Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and I'm already very, very impressed. They will probably last longer than Goodyears based on previous experience and that of friends, but from your list it's definitely F1As.

Dont buy any Xtra Load tyres, ruins the ride totally in my experence

Hankook V12 get my vote. I've got them all round & are excellent in the wet:thumbup:

If you get some you'll be lucky If you beat the price that Camskill do them for.
