Interior Retrim Project

Featured Replies

So - After some ideas!!!

Just won these at a good price I think (includes rear seats too which I won't retrim)

VW/SKODA FABIA VRS INTERIOR on eBay (end time 10-Jul-09 19:00:59 BST) hence all the Stoke on Trent requests ;)

The idea is to retrim both front seats and at the same time beef up the 4 bolsters so they hug a little bit more than standard. Not going to go leather, and I have the dark grey "running man" door cards and black plastic trim, so feel it will need to go dark. Any thoughts or ideas, maybe pinching stuff off google images?

why not just buy some decent buckets?

I tried that once and got bitten, so I'm keeping it semi oem instead. I was on the lookout for buckets but I wanted to ensure I sat in them before shelling out any dough, but I found nowhere locally that sells seats in a showroom format, and I didn't want to risk mail order.

you got them well cheap!

i always like the sport seat covers better than the rs ones as they are black and would be a lot easier to clean.

Yeah - getting sport covers is a value option, but I am going to a place called "Trim'll fix it" locally to see what they can with them.

is it just the passenger side one thats ripped, i need to get around to replacing my seat covers and sure my passenger side one is undamaged, been that long since i've been in the car that i've forgotten :P

if you wanted to keep them with the vrs covers then i could send you the old one once i get the new ones fitted, i have a fatal mark in my drivers side and a dog kindly bobbled my rear ones beyond repair.

Nope - I suspect the "black bits" will remain, but the white bits will be retrimmed with something else much mcuh darker. I need to just get some ideas first so I don't go into Trim'll Fix It totally clueless.

how about a much darker grey, would maybe sit well with your already dark interior and not lose the two tone thing. i dont know why skoda decided those colours were a good idea in the first place, they should have done the seats the same as the octavia rs.

and on that thought, why dont you maybe think about changing the black for a lighter colour and do the sides black?

How about doing the centres with your existing seat trim to match the door cards, and do the outers in charcoal or black.

I reckon that'd look really good - sort of OEM Plus as they say on the veedub scene

I want the sport interior for my vrs but my dealer reckons you have to buy the whole seat, anyone know different?????

I rang last week regarding this and was quoted £500+ for the whole sport interior

thats quite cheap....I think the vrs seat (drivers side alone) I got quoted 750 quid for the seat!!

OK - with thanks to Leon for picking my vRS interior up, and me dropping them down to a reputable seat trimmer in Exeter, I am going for the following:

Keeping the dark grey "V" trimmed centres and mating to a black cloth I liked in their samples. The foam is being beefed up a bit too, but generally the bolsters are still in good nick so I suspect the car these came from was not high miles when it crashed. Silver stitching being used so it looks more "custom" - Headrest being done in same black too.

I can't wait, as even sitting in them in the condition I got them, I could feel there was vastly more support around the thighs & lower back than my current seats (stock fabia "classic" trim ones :o)

Well :thumbdwn: Project back on hold as it turns out the front seats, especially the passenger one, have been seriously damaged. Subframes bent. So going to be picking them up and probably have to chuck them! Bit gutted now! :(

WTF! Have you contacted the seller, did you pay through paypal, were they sold as seen?

Are the seat base's on your current seats not interchangeable, or bodgeable??

In the mean time.. this pre cut re-trim leather is still on ebay for a tenner! should fit your current seats a treat as not for the vRS!

And you had already left positive feedback. Maybe the bases can be corrected easy enough.

Not going to risk it. I'll be looking at them closely soon, but for £36 I knew it was cheap, but never realised they were from what must have been a seriously crashed vRS. :thumbdwn:

The rears will be OK, and I might get something for the cover off the passenger seat. :) Just a bit of a pain to be honest. Might need to re-evaluate the whole seat thing again.

It's not dificult DIYing seats. You may well find that you'll be able to mix and match between your existing seats and the bent ones. I find it easier to replace the metal hog rings with cable ties. Why not take your passenger seat out and experiment?

Hmmm - Never really butchered a seat like that before.

Does anyone else know if I could use my current subframes on my stock non vRS seats with the main body of the vRS seats?
