Octavia II boot lock problem

Featured Replies

Hi - I have a VRS estate. 2 weeks left on the warranty. First thing in the morning the boot will not open.

Tried with the key, tried unlocking the other doors then trying, boot button (rubber pad) won't work either.

But after driving the car for a while I can then open the boot. Either with the key or with the pad.

Has anyone got any ideas? The car has been into the dealers 3 times and everytime they cannot find a fault.

The car is going in again tomorrow ( over night) to see if they can replicate the problem.

If it's a similar setup to the Octavia I where the lock was opened on the central locking by an electric motor driving a plastic screw to give a linear actuation, the screw used to bind intermittently (It'd work again If I took the actuator out and manually pushed it back), leading to the boot jamming in the locked position. Replacing the actuator should fix this.

On the older Octavia the boot had a mechanical release rather than a button though, so I'm not too sure how much of the mechanism is likely to be common, but that's where I'd start.

Hello!

I have similar problems with my Octavia 1997 boot lock.

I cannot get the boot lock to open from outside (from the inside i can).

The opening lever is all the time loose, like the way it is when it is locked.

Opening boot lock with the key doesn't help, the lever stays loose.

I can lock the whole car from the boot lock with the key, but opening fails to succeed ( any doors don't seem to open, the boot lock itself neither).

Also, neither central locking system from drivers door panel nor the lock doesn't open boot lock either (, while other locks operate normally).

I have now access to the boot lock mechanics, but this far haven't been able to detect the actual problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
