Fabia air conditioning

Featured Replies

hi,

i welcome anyones advice.

I took my car to the agents approx 11 months ago as the aircon was not working.

They put in on a fault code reader and found the compressor was U/S.

They had a compressor at a good price, they have always helped me out, and fitted and regassed the system, all working great, better than when it was new.

I have noticed over the past 2 weekes, i turn the fan on, turn the AC on, the switch lights up, and the engine revs rise, but there appears to ba a lack of cold air from the vents.

I tried it again this afternoon with the bonnet open, and i could hear a clicking noise as though something was trying to switch on, maybe it was my imagination but it certainly seemed this way, i also noticed that the fan on the radiator for the aircon was not running, is this correct ?

I felt both pipes from the compressor but they just felt at ambient temperature.

Would appreciate anyones kind comments please.

The car is a 2001 fabia comfrt estate.

I would quickly go back to the repairer as their work should be guaranteed for a year.

Assuming he followed the correct procedure after fitting a new compressor there may be other parts or leaks reducing the air con's efficiency. If you had the leak dye added during the regas that would be easily found. Unfortunatley air. con. problems do go on & on, expensive for us I know.

hi,

have been back to the agent, the compressor is ok, they put it on the fault code reader and found out the Emap sensor is faulty, they have ordered a new one and i will go back next week to have it fitted, they said it is located behind the heater.

is this the Evap sensor they are talking about ?

many thanks

thats the one, had mine done about a month ago.

I Have a spare one. Not too hard to fit.

hi,

i am having to pay to have it done, but i m also having a new antirollbar fitted too, i have that dreaded squeak when going along.

The garage has always treated me well, they reckon 2 hours to complete both jobs.

is there an unofficia way that they can do this without taking the dash out.

they did state 2 hours to complete.

many thanksn again guys.

The unofficial way is to follow the guide I posted a link to above - although I reckon two hours for either is pretty optimistic, let alone both - I think your garage is very generous! :)
