Rapid tyres

Featured Replies

I'm replacing the tyres on my Rapid, and have managed to get myself confused.

I've got Meteor II 5x13 wheels that have had 185/70's on for the past seven years, and that's what it says in the workshop manual for UK alloys on post 84 cars

looked on National tyre website and if I put in my reg no it comes up with 165/70, which is the same as my favorit!

I remember having 165/80 on my estelle 2, and I have these on both sets of earlier alloys for the coupe and the estelle 1

what choices do I have on the meteor II, any recommendations on what people are running on these?

thanks

Mark

185/70 and 165/80 are the same rolling radius as near as makes no odds (difference less than tread depth). Also my memory says that back in the day 105s had 155/80, other Estelles had 165/80, and Rapids had 165/80 or 185/70.

You will probably find a larger choice in 185/65, but it depends on how accurate you want the speedo to read. I use 165/70 most of the time, but on a S100 you have rear arch clearance problems unless you graft some front arches on the back.
