Wheel alignment charges

Featured Replies

could i ask for some opinions and prices from people please, im looking to get the console bushes done on my car, probs cupra ones but the thing thats killing it for me is the price of wheel alignment, i realise totally that some places do a far more thorough job than the local tyre places, but im getting some, IMO, excessive prices

does anyone know how much the dealers charge and how good of a system they have ?........and also Unit18 too

TT Shop - £59.99

Demon Tweeks - £41.40 - very reasonable IMO

Awesome GTI - £77.63

we have just got a new ramp at work with its own computer and a laser pod for each wheel but im not sure how much we charge for it yet (i work for a Renault dealers)

can't you get it done for free on a Saturday morning at work , if you know what i mean

it would certainly be very cheap at work as i obviously get staff rates for things, however im led to believe the cupra bushes can be awkward to fit and need fitting in a certain way, so i was going to take it to someone like Awesome instead who must have done it loads of times, however the wheel alignment is 1/3 of the total price

I'm not sure how they are much different to actually install.. the only difference I'm aware of is they require a stronger compression tool to actually get them into the wish bone? Could be wrong though and mis-understood what I was told on that front.

That said, there's a DIY guide on here somewhere so you could always look that up and see if there's anything out of the ordinary mentioned? :)

If you want Cupra bushes, then you need to speak to the guys at Unit 18. Definitely the experts. Ross does these in his sleep. And they have the right kit to do full VAG wheel alignment as well.

Wheel alignment with the Hunter laser system is £47.

thanks for that, seems there is a Porsche specialist near me that use that system, like Demon Tweeks quite reasonable on price too

I was £25+VAT for some four-wheel laser magic from my local garage that stopped my Furbatron pulling to the left after the console bushes were done.

see that seems too cheap to me to be a proper job, but the price Awesome charge is very excessive IMO

£28 for a 4 wheel laser alignment in Cardiff, and they adjusted the toe.

However it still pulls left like a ****er.

lol

I paid out for a full alignment after fitting console bushes (nearly £80) and it was the biggest waste of money ever, they seemed to overlook the reason it was being done and the tyres were scrubbed just a few thou later

Just get the front tracked with a decent laser system, £25 squid at my local ATS.

Gordons tyres in Wakefield do a full alignment check but dont charge if there is no adjustment necescary which is what the other places should do IMO and they are much cheaper if you do need anything adjusting.

where did you take your car the first time VeeKar ?

and does anyone know how much the dealers charge for this...

I'm about to do my front wishbone bushes - i.e. Cupra/Powerflex. After reading a few threads on here and weighing it all up, I can't see why you should need alignment (unless you remove the actual consoles to do the job)? I'm planning to split the balljoint from the hub carrier and leave the balljoint on the w/b. Everything else should be in the same place afterwards?

If you do them in place and your alignment is correct to start with then yes, you dont need to redo the alignment.

Nice to have confirmation by 'The Man' :-)

thanks for all replies, i think ill be getting them done at work, i just cant get over the price it is at Awesome

Hi mate. Forgot to tell you my alignment cost £35 plus vat the other week including a printout. One thing people forget that you can only adjust the toe on the furby so if anything is out your fooked :)

I'm sure your place will be fine.
