Does anyone use Google Adwords?

Featured Replies

I set up a Google Adwords account a few weeks ago and pointed it to a holding page that I had set up. A guy from Google has been calling me every few days to help me but I've kept on telling him that the website wasn't finished. Well the website finally went live last night so I called him to try to get stuff sorted for an Adwords account as they help you get set up and understand how to use it etc.

We get however long into the call and then he tells me because my account has been "active" for more than 2 weeks they can't offer me the startup service due to red tape and there's nothing they can do!

Not his fault but obviously I'm a bit miffed.. I have no idea on how to use Adwords and I already have a bill for £120 when all I had before was a bloody holding page!

Any inspiration appreciated because I have absolutely no idea where to start with this stuff :(

What are you wanting to achieve, adverts on your website or your advert on other sites?

My website on Google searches. I have no idea where to start and have already paid out £120!!

Use specifics, try to avoid high volume ones unless entirely relevant - ie dont try and spam the adwords as this only costs you with little actual traffic. Also dont start a campaign until your site is 100%. Visitors wont bookmark you on the fly.

So, for example, if you're selling mobiles you would try and avoid having all the manufacturers, iphone and really common ones UNLESS you have a serious budget!
