Guys,

I am looking to junk the excuse fitted for a stereo in my car.

I don't want to spend the earth (

My setup sounds rather less than what you're after, but I've found it pretty good.

Infinity 652i speakers in the front (70 quid) door. No distortion though it makes

the door pocket shake a bit under heavy bass, so stuff in there might rattle a

bit.

Original wing mirror tweeters still in place - haven't got round to disconnecting

these as I like the tweeter at that level, but they can struggle when put under

pressure.

Rear door tweeters disconnected by unplugging the wire in the boot.

Rear speakers replaced in the same position with Pioneer TS-G1316 speakers (30 quid).

Nice shallow basket and the tweeter doesn't protrude like the Infinity's, so it

fits under the side shelves. Good at producing a nice bass rumble.

I'd imagine it would sound a lot meatier with an amp popped on there, though I'm not

really into subs and wouldn't want to change the head unit for security reasons...

If I make it down to the Midlands next weekend, you'd be more than welcome to

have a listen!

Rob.

Can't help much with the speakers, etc, but you're welcome to have a nose at my sub/amp at the meet - I went for the cheapest I could find, although I went for a "name" brand rather than generic stuff.

Speaker: 10" Sony XS1036 -

guyz

I only got the cap because it was half price (honest guv)...

Bear in mind that I would like good sound quality. I am thinking of fitting a small sub and amp.

Does anyone experience with their new set up and particular vibration/distorsion etc

If I really crank up something like Seven Nation Army, I can see the rear screen and offside wing mirror glass beating in time to the drums...

Haven't tried updating any of the stock speakers yet, although tempted to use a spare sheet of MDF to see if I can make a replacement parcel shelf.... got enough carpet left to cover it so no one will be able to see what's hanging from it... :)

I upgraded my RS stuff last year :)

Front:

Got rid of std fronts, front tweeters, rear tweeters.

Replaced with MB Quart PSC 216 powered by Pheonix Gold XS 2300 amp in the boot.

Head unit: Alpine 7876RB

Rear:

Left parcel shelf speakers in on low volume to add a little 'fill' to the car

2 x Alpine SWR 1040 (10" Type R 1000w :D ) in a double box powered by:

2 x Alpine MRV T707 Amps (V12)

Let's just say it is LOUD

The soundproofing is excellent - if you stand outside with all the doors/windows closed and crank it up to max - you can only just hear it. Of course the windows/mirrors vibrating give it away slightly - as does the rear spoiler which you can hear jumping up and down on the boot. It is almost too loud to stand inside the car while up on max!
