Engine elecronics warning light

Featured Replies

My engine electronics light came on yesterday - was driving on mway following a lorry when a metre long peice of wood came flying off the lorry in the direction my VRS! Wood hit the underside of the car and whilst no obvious damage the warning light is now on - any thoughts as to what it might be??

No way of telling without at fault code scan to say what the car thinks is wrong... It may be a spurious fault (quite possible given the circumstances under which it came on) and legend has it you can clear faults by turning the key to the position before the car starts (when all the lights are one on the dash) and leaving it like that for a few minutes. I can't say either way if it works, but if it does and the light doesn't come back, it was probably Just One Of Those Things...

HTH

Oil level sensor on the sump could have been damaged, or the lambda probe on the cat maybe.

Those are just the lowest sensors that spring to mind. It might be blindingly obvious when you get under the car, so try and jack it up if you can.

Also, I would have gone ape **** at the truck driver! Or at least take his Reg so he can pay for the damages he caused by negligence. If he can't secure his load safely, he shouldn't be driving.

My pet hate is nasty filthy little people throwing their rubbish out of their car windows while driving along. It takes less effort to just leave it in the car and put it in the bin when you get home, so why bloody do it?! I guess it's a sign of how thick the driver is.

Totally agree. I've lost count of the number of times I've been behind a car full of t**ts and had to dodge MaccyD cups and empty coke cans. They should be made to live in a skip full of rubbish for a week. Actually, maybe they do anyway

There are posters round here encouraging you to take their reg and dob them in (hands-free, naturally! ;) )

I get so annoyed when people lob rubbish out their cars - even fag ends! Especially lit heading towards my car!

I feel very sorry for you juddy - would certainly be on to the lorry driver about the damage to your car.
