Octavia 2 Vrs Timing Belt Change

Featured Replies

Hi People MY 55 Octy Vrs is rapidly coming up to being 4 years old, and although its only done 17K, ive been told it still needs its timing belt change due to it being 4 years old, which is fine. Now my mate is a certified Vauxhall mechanic and said he would do it for nothing. but he has never workd on a skoda before and wants to know if there are any special tools needed, and does anyone have any links to service manuals on the net????

Thanks

that would put me off straight away 'Vauxhall'

Is it worth the hassle of him screwing it up. Could be the end of good friendship and the end of your engine. I'd leave this particular job to an expert (and one you can recover costs from if it balls up). If you need brakes or run of the mill things like oil and filter changes then I'd be fine with that though.

I agree, I took mine to a SEAT dealer, they charged less than £300 for a proper job.

Erm i would walk away the minute he asked does it need any special tools.

Get it done from a delear. You might pay more but its guaranteed and if it fooks up you can claim as others have already said
