What Pressure washer to buy?

Featured Replies

Right guys, decided its about time I get myself a pressure washer,

Anyone recommend a good one for cleaning my car with?

Thanks in advance:thumbup:

get yourself a Challenge extreme one from Argos - around £70 for a high powered one with loads of extra tools, and it won't break any quicker than ones that cost 3x as much (trust me, I've been there!!)

Bosche Bosche or Bosche  Vorsprung wet technique

I've bought cheap brands before and I must say I was less than impressed. I have a karcher now and wouldn't be parted from it.

Wait till Aldi have an offer on, they're essentially re-branded Karchers :)

I have a Stihl and it is faultless thus far. Only 6 months old though...

How do you pronounce that?!

Shteel, I guess?

Also, just noticed your user title

I've got a Bosch. It's excellent but not cheap.

Have you got a budget?

I had a karcher and the pump housing (plastic) cracked after 13 months, so was out of warranty. I was not at all impressed with their customer service, but ended up buying a new pump. Worked for a few months then died completely. Havent bothered buying another and managed fine without one for the last 5 years.

I have a "Lavor" one, which was cheap, and powerful, with an induction motor (only runs when you pull the trigger)... had it about 3 years, used and abused regularly and still wlrking fine.

My dad has a karcher wich broke on Tuesday after 13 months of ownership (and onlyabout an hour's use in total)

Power-craft I believe. I have one in my garage. No complaints whatsoever and super cheap.

I bought a grade A factory-recon Karcher from eBay (I think it was a K4 or something?), quite a bit cheaper than new price, in a plain box. Does the job, very happy with it.

I think the same unit was £180 in Argos and Amazon, I paid something like £100ish for it, although it didn't have the dirtblaster or the patio cleaner. I've since bought the dirtblaster, but have still saved a lot of £££. It has a shorter 6 month warranty, but in my experience, things either fail due to a manufacturing fault quickly, or fail due to component old age...

One thing I would say from what little knowledge I gained reading up on pressure washers; make sure that whatever unit you get, it has an induction motor and not a brush motor. It'll perform better and last much longer

EDIT: I think the lowest units in the Karcher range are brush motor types.

The Sh is silent my friend. In my experience this fluid has not been worth the money.

I had a karcher mainly so I could use snow foam on my car and it lasted 6 months I was not impressed !

I was half way through washing the car and it decided to leak water from everywhere possible from the pump, it was as if the pump had just broken in half the water was ****ing out !

I didnt bother to register the warrenty either when I got it, my bad :o

You don't need to register a warranty in the UK as you'll get a year anyway.

FWIW that sounds more like a pipe which costs about £5.
