Vista and PHP :(

Featured Replies

Has anyone had the pleasure of installing Vista and PHP, and apache? I have just had this joy over the past hour and a half. I put it on my XP pc no problem, Vista! :thumbdwn: I found the following invaluable - Install Apache on Windows Vista (Updated) molecular sieve

I have always been keen to avoid Vista, although this week on purchasing a laptop (for a number of reasons), it came with it as default. Im gradually getting used to it and finding ways of stopping it from annoying me! :finger:

I wish I had known that before lol!

Alternatively some guys I know have gone down the truly geeky route and brought a network hard drive and actually ran it as a web server that behaves like linux! :D

Appservnetwork served me well for 2 years, and then I needed to properly simulate the production environment of my web applications and turned an old dell pc in to a web development server that sits beneath my main pc. :)

Yup, as he's said :) Works well!

I tend to just deploy straight away to a test folder on my hosting these days. Don't have the space for a server currently :(

Aye.. i also have my own LAMP development server, its so much easier during the development stages to work straight from the shared www folder than have to upload every small change.

You can also get an Apache/MySQL/PHP enviroment that runs from a USB drive. Very useful indeed! http://www.server2go-web.de/index.html
