Newby,Octavia 50mph and short lived excitement of ownership !

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Not long bought my first Skoda, having been a long time convert to Citreon. So for me was excited :) to have found that Skoda has this cult following and a happy one at that ! However I have replaced this rather short lived excitement with feelings of horror :( at what I have left behind and now taken on.......... Problem is all was fine until hitting 50mph and then there was this very intrusive wind noise coming from the A pillar - sort of like a plastic bag filled with shells and being shaken - it only kicks in at about 50 and continues when the speed reduces. Alternatively I will happily remain within slow paced speeds and inadvertently reinforce attitudes about 'slow' skodas !

Anyway early days yet, I may have to turn the car over to someone else if this is a problem, as it is difficult to pick up unless you have a road test along a bypass or on the motorway.

I am hoping it is down to something and nothing and that I can become part of the following, coz it sure seems like a car I want to keep and a badge that says 'cool' status.

Please help if you have had this problem, I think I have an Octavia I (its 2000, X reg) - old it may be but for me I wanted a way in that would suprise any self doubt about getting rid of the citreon.

Happy Skodaring ......

Craig

Hello Craig, can't help you out with your problem but welcome to Briskoda. ;)

Welcome to the forums :)

If its coming from the A-pillar and only makes the noise at over 50mph then I wonder whether the windscreen has recently been replaced but not seated properly

Welcome to Briskoda

Hi Craig, welcome to Briskoda.

Sorry I can't help with your problem but I too am a Briskoda newby and a long-time Citroen owner. I am about to buy a Roomster and I have no doubts whatsoever about getting rid of my Schitroen.

maybe something as simple as your window not completely closed??

Welcome by the way :wavey: Are you English??

Welcome :)
