Which DV? DV30, AMD Viper or anything else?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of changing the OE DV, but I'm not sure which one to get. I've read all the posts about it needing to be a recirc one (not the DV26).

I know most of you have the DV30, how does this compare to Amd's Viper (made by turbo dynamics).

I hear that they need to be serviced, whats involved?

Servicng is just routine matainence, pop the top off, remove the piston and clean up. Bit of grease ont the seals and re assemble, stops it sticking. Onyl needs to be done every 10k and even then its not essential but worth doing.

Have a look at the Turbo XS recirc valve, needs no maintenance and does not have any rubber seals in to perish.

Have a word with Mike at Impossible Performance.

Part of the attraction of going to DV30 route is that you don't have to service it.....although it is possible.

Forge 006/007 are other options although these do require servicing. These can be purchased from Badger5 Motorsports.....I think Bill does this for around

I'd either go DV30 or Forge DV007. Had both, liked both.

Are they all the same loudness?

i went for the Bailey cause it got a good review on a site i read regarding a guy with e VAG turbo lump in a passat i think where he'd tested nearly all the available recirc valves on the uk market.

the Bailey and Forge came out tops or there abouts.

plus a lot of the bods here are using them so thats a plus point too.

as for loudness i'd say there isnt much in it

Shame you've missed all the shows now, I got my Forge 007 last year from Forge when they were at Trax for

might be going pod on sunday see if there's any stands there.

there will be stands there but more than likely just catering for the jap stuff on show, you never know though.

all you need to remember is its a recirc not dump to atmosphere valve.

maybe see you there.

I saw Joel_vRS yesterday he had the DV26 on his (atmospheric one) and it sounds wicked.

Nigel you still got the same number from your RSC days?

I have a spare Forge DV. Done about 20 miles and like new.

Will take it to jap show with me as will be there with Nigel.

Take a look at the new dump valve kit that neuspeed have brought out for the 1.8t engine, it looks the dogs. Its a HKS super sequential valve, which is a pull design rather than a push. It states it sorts out low speed compressor surge, which can be a common problem with spring operated dump valves. www.neuspeed. com, golf iv engine parts.

I bought and fitted my DV26 before I heard about the DV 30! Can anyone explain why a "recirc" DV is better for the octy, and more inportantly tell me if i have dropped a major clanger by fitting the DV26 instead. Thanks guys!

anyone?

jimvrs, apparently the 1.8T engine expects the pressure to be vented back through the airbox, and as a result of using the atmospheric dv all the pressure is vented out. Apparently this can lead to over fuelling. A few people are using the DV26 and aren't having any problems. joel_vrs had one on his car, and it sounds wicked!

Cheers boyced! Mine has been on about seven months now with no apparent problems, and I still never get tired of that noise! But what do I know, I only paint them, i don't get involved much with the oily bits.

If you want some serious noise get a Carbonio induction kit, looks the business too.
