USB Freeview Sticks

Featured Replies

I know these aren't the greatest things in the world, but I want to use it as a PVR rather than buying a seperate freeview box to go under the TV.

My question is this though - does any one know of one that will take a coax cable or do they all use their little spindly wires with car aerials attached?

A pinnacle one takes a coax plug into it, but it's a specific model. I forget which one mind, but it's a couple of years old by now.

I have the PCTV Nano Stick.

only a single tuner mind but it does the job for me.

Can't remember what make mine is but it takes a standard coax, but then has a little converter which plugs into the stick it's self. Good little thing mind!

Iv'e got a Seal DVB(T) stick which takes a coax.

There used to be a program called showshifter that was the best i found. That was a couple of years ago mind.

Sorry, what? I can't see how it'll burn poking out the back of a pc under a desk. It's not going to get any hotter than the xbox does.

If you use Linux, there's v4l-dvb which would act as a driver then there's a few different applications available to watch TV with. I use Kaffeine.

On Windows this GB-PVR mediacentre. TV, Music, Video, Pictures, DVD looks worth a try, particularly as it appears to be free.

As mentioned above GB-PVR and there is also MediaPortal. Both are like Windows Media Center. I have used both GB-PVR and MediaPortal. In the end i preferred the latter as it worked straight away with my, then Hauppage USB stick. GB-PVR required configuration to work with the stick. Both however have excellent communities so if your stuck just post for help on the respective forum.
