Skoda don't like to accept it's their fault

Featured Replies

After reading a few posts about tailgates rusting on octy estates which is apparently caused by the glass being mounted too low which then rubbed on the paint. I would like to add to the mix by telling my little tale of Skoda Customer Service.

My father, who owned my car before me, had always taken the car to the same dealer for every service and inspection. On one service he went to collect the car and was presented with quite a large bill. On reading the bill he had been charged for a new sump. Asking why they had fitted a new sump they told him that the sump bung threads had stripped as it may have been over tightened or corroded in. Obviously he wasn't too keen to be paying for something that only the dealer could have caused or was a design fault of Skoda but they wouldn't let him have the car back until the bill was paid in full. He did get a refund eventually and a little compensation but it was a very long and drawn out battle between him and Skoda UK. They just weren't prepared to accept responsibility. I think it was only due to my fathers perserverence and unwillingness to give up that got the desired result.

It's not put him off Skoda though, he replaced it with an Octy II.
