Which exhaust for vRS?

Featured Replies

I am looking at a cat back system for my Fabia and can only find 3 makes; Milltek, Blueflame and Scorpion.

I see the Scorpion is only 2.25'' whereas the later 2 are 2.5'', which I think is about right for the size of a turbo 1.9 and thinking of future mods like a Jabba remap il need less back pressure. So just wandering which exhaust people favour, the blueflame or the milltek? There isnt much price wise in between them and they both look like decent quality systems, both T304, mandrel bent etc

Before I make my mind up would like to hear people's opinions and experiences if any about either system

Cheers

The best answers will come from people who have an aftermarket exhaust on their fabias

BUT

I have been doing a lot of rooting about on the net looking into a new exhaust for my fabia

and i have come to the conclusion that BF and Milltec exhausts are much of a likeness and are what most people choose

so its down to prefering a twin pipe or an oval single pipe sticking out the **** end of your car.

Get in contact with Unit 18 if ya close enough for them to do the work..

They fitted this scorpion recently.. some nice pics on THIS thread.

very happy with everything on my BF Sounds great, fits great and looks great imo

im getting the milltek fitted friday so ill tell you what i think then.

im not going for decat just yet, wana see what it sounds like without and then when i can ill prob get decat :D

Cheers mate. Im looking into the milltek or BF decat downpipe aswell. Ive done decats before and they make a vast difference to the engine note. On my S40 T4 I bought a Jetex 2.5 cat back and it was only very slightly louder than stock, then I fitted a decat pipe and there was a noticeable difference to performance, you could hear the turbo spooling from inside the car and power came in alot lower down the rev range, then there was the exhaust note and "popping" sound which I guess you only get from a petrol turbo.

I read somewhere that diesel cars dont have cats, they are called particlulate filters and the internals are very different from a "cat" - apparently these filters are even more restrictive than a cat?, so decent power gains should be made when when they are deleted. Im hoping the MOT tester will be friendly though when he sees a bit more black smoke than normal, that said it should still pass the emissions test anyway.

Only newer (post 2005 really) have DPFs, earlier than that have normal cats. They can also be bypassed with the right pipework.

It WILL pass the emissions test with a decat, as diesels aren't tested on emissions they are tested on soot particulate.

As for the exhaust, custom FTW! I've got a 3" full stainless system with decat and small backbox. If you just have cat back, you'll notice little to no performance gains.

I had a custom 2.5" from Prospeed.

The difference in noise and performance was negligable and I was a little dissapointed.

Wenbt back and had a decat pipe put in and now I love it, almost a year on.

Thanks for ithe nfo mate. I guess mine has a DPF as its the BLT engine (2006). Where did you have your 3'' system made up? I would only be interested in a custom system if it was well priced and do you know if it is mandrel bent?

Ive seen some people on here with rolling road results on a stock engine which are much higher than the 128bhp factory quote. Does anyone know how much of an increase a full system from downpipe back with decat gives?

Go for a Milltek.....I've the full system on mine, incl decat.

Great job and excellent looking feature.....sounds unreal too.

Expensive but worth it

It doesn't. What I meant by newer engines is ones designed and implemented after 2005. BLT is just an adjusted ASZ.

Mine was made at a custom place in Pool, Cornwall and I paid a princely sum of £180 fitted. They had the car for the whole day.

Turbo back decat milltek FTW :D

Anyone got a sport cat fitted?

Any idea what the cost would be, for a bog standard full exhaust system for my 2005 Fabia VRS.

I know prices will vary slightly between exhaust companies, but a general cost would be good enough at this stage.

Thanks one & all.

Anyone got a sport cat fitted?

waste of money on a diesel

waste of money on a diesel

How come?

Not challenging you mate Im just not really clued up on this sort of stuff. :o

I think its a waste of time spending a few hundred quid on a sport cat when you can just remove the cat alltogether and still pass an MOT (where diesels are concerned)

Really a sport cat is an oxymoron, it impredes the exhaustion of gases from the car, which on a turbo engine, and one which is remapped is fairly critical so sporty they are not.

I've got the jetex prototype on my VRS - its very quiet, but you can definately feel the turbo spool up quicker!

just go pipewerx up north to get a custom one made up!! decatted with 1 small box before the twin rear pipes which are slightly bigger than the milltek twins!

its a really unique sound and is lovely and quiet when cruising but makes an awesome sound when booting it! all with a lifetime guarentee as well!

Muffelrectomy. Simples.

got blueflame on mine, lovely sound when ya boot it.

Theres a few clips on youtube with if you want get an idea of what they sound like
