Few questions re DPF removal - not performance/supplier related.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm giving serious consideration to going down the DPF delete and remap route on my newly purchased Vrs Tdi but have a few questions;

for those that have done this already,.... how have you explained this modification to your insurance company (not the remap the DPF removal) did they understand or was it a hassle to sort out ? Or have you just said that you've put a new exhaust on and mapped the car??

My understanding is that there is no emmisions test as such on a diesel, just a 'soot' test under a constantly increased load up to a certain RPM? is this correct and has anyone who has had there DPF removed had a car tested?

(I appeciate this is unlikely due to the diesel Vrs only coming up to three years old now)

I understand that apart from being unreliable the DPF is very restricitve so the engine wastes power, anyone noticed an increase in MPG after DPF removal when driving normally?

How do the tuners overcome the problem of the DPF sensor when there's no DPF ?

and finally, is the car very sooty once mapped with no DPF ?

many thanks and sorry if some of this is old hat stuff.

That's correct. I believe JBS now claim to have checked this and said it was fine. All I can tell you for certain is I've not seen it putting out any visible soot clouds under hard acceleration. I reckon it'll be ok.

Too early to say for sure but it seems like it's slightly better.

All five probes from the original downpipe are connected to the Milltek pipe. I assume certain thresholds relating to the values from these sensors are modified in the mapping.

Have you had any kind of discussion with your insurers? pm me if you don't want this in the public forum.

I'm interested in how to approach this with mine and still be fully insured!!
