Re:New here and cannot post brake problems on forum

Featured Replies

Hi i am posting this for my father who owns a 03 plate Octavia VRS, cannot seem to get on the forum about problems, so here goes...

Since having a service by a Skoda dealer the front brakes sound like they are grinding on there rivets when the car comes to a stop, the pads were changed and i sure he said the anti roll bar as well, does anybody have any ideas?

Also on start up it sounds like a diesel engine with a hole in the exhaust but nothing was found when looked at under the ramps, does this ring any bells?

Sorry for posting on here maybe someone can point me to the right forum direction...

Many thanks,

Bruce

Thanks, just posted it there

Welcome :)

Welcome aboard

I'm not sure about the brakes

But the 'diesel' effect could be the secondary air pump. Mine (and many others') sounds like a tractor for a few minutes on start up, but should quieten down noticeably to a normal petrol purrr when it's done its thing.

Apparently it happens because the original rivets on the pump are rubbish and work lose over time to leave a small gap between the seal. A lot of people have drilled the rivets out and screwed the pump back up with proper nut and bolts and I think that's solved the problem.

It's nothing to worry about though, just annoying for the neighbours first thing in the morning :D

Good luck with the brakes, sounds nasty :(
