What mph Is Displaying On Trip Computer?

Featured Replies

Scrolling through the display on my 2009 facelift Octavia trip computer, (non Maxidot I think) I note that one display has mph within a circle and a row of dashes below it. This never changes. What is it meant to do?

My average mph can be seen after another click of the selector. All the rest of the displays on memory 1 and memory 2 are working as expected.

Speed warning? You can change it to 'bong' when you exceed a set speed. The dashes would be the speed that its currently set to - ie: not currently set.

Could be the MPH Limit when set, which yours isn't.

It appears to me that many are confused as to whether they have Maxidot or not.

The ubiquitous Maxidot appears on the Skoda website and brochures but when you try to find a reference to it in the owner's manual once you have the car, there is not a mention of the term 'Maxidot' to be seen - its as though Skoda assumes that everyone knows what it is. Since it is 'only' a £125 factory fit option on certain cars it strikes me that it would make more sense to fit it across the range. Also the functions vary from trim level to trim level within the Maxidot, all very confusing

I think the Golf just call theirs " Multifunction Computer" and is fitted across the range but with certain functions according to trim level - much more straightforward.

VW have different names as well - "Multifunction computer (highline)" for what Skoda call "Maxidot", and "Multifunction computer (midline)" for the basic version.

Agree these silly names don't help anyone much.

Eventually manage to get this to work and also to switch it off , after a few tries at button holding and prodding. Not too obtrusive in its action so may be useful sometime.
