Cruise not working after stereo change

Featured Replies

As title really, I changed the standard stereo to an aftermarket Alpine (iPod control in the Octy at last). Straight swap, no problems with the K-Wire or whatever it's called, the one to the aerial amp anyway.

So, checking my Cruise control afterwards and it doesn't work. I'm told the brake lights are working ok, does that rule out the brake switch?

Any other ideas what it could be? I had a good faff around trying to get the new unit in, tight fit but with a little persuasion (and a removed glove box).....

Trying to think what could have caused it to stop working... only thing that stands out was I spotted a red cable spliced in with an inline fuse (10A I think) behind stereo, could this be related to the cruise?

Any advice appreciated

If cruise was a retrofit then they might have wired its supply in behind the stereo. Vag-Com would help.Do you have access?

Could also be GALA speed signal is shorted if the new stereo wiring is different.

Nope .....The brake light switch is a dual switch, it sends info too the ecu and makes your lights work. So it could be knackered, which would stop your cruise working.

You need vagcom too tell though, iirc you can do a test by pushing on the brake pedal and reving the engine. It shouldn't rev as a safety feature.

...................i think lol

It was retrofit yes, one of the guys on here did it 3 years ago. Great job aswell, all was good until last week

I'm going to take a closer look at the red cable, have put if off due to pain of getting stereo back in. No access to vag-com but they day is getting closer to me considering buying one

Cheers

yeah, if it's a retrofit it's probably because it's not getting a switched live where is previously was from the back of the radio
