turbo timer ? ? ?

Featured Replies

hi guys

i got my hands on blitz turbo timer

ive got the instructions to fit the item which is not a problem

but ive heard there can be problems locking the car while the turbo timer is still cooling the car down

can anyone shed any light on the situation

thanks

dan

ive been told that they are not needed on the vrs unless you are running bt as they are both coolant and oil cooled units.....

oh ok thanks

i thought it was better to be safe then sorry

i guess on the small unit thats both oil and water cooled the turbo timer really isnt doing much but i say the last couple of miles of your journey take it easy that will prolong the life better....

fit it if you want no harm in more protection and i guess locking the vehicle will depend on how it wired

ok no worries i dnt think il bother may just sell up and buy something else for it

thanks anyways

Have you got an alarm on it? bar the original...

I had a turbo timer fitted as part of a Clifford alarm. Its another option than using an after market wire in unit.

Theses cheaper alarm units with that function so it’s worth looking at, if you really wont one fitted.

Turbo timers cause more problems than they solve, bin it.

Yeah you already have a water-cooled bearing housing mate. Fitting it will just be a waste, and as said cause more problems than it's worth.

Turbo timers are a bit of a gimmick for the subaru boys!

:iagree:

it can have insurance implications aswell. I was advised taking it easy for a mile or two after a fast run and not turning the engine off "straight" away after arriving is enough, and tbh you should do this with most cars anyway.

i had one fitted to mine and it didnt work. something to do with the standard immobiliser?? so its just used as a fancy flashing alarm light now :thumbdwn:

Don,t do it they are cr*p :thumbdwn:

thanks guy big help

If you need a another reason, ring your insurance company and explain that you want to fit a device that defeats the immobiliser so the car can run after you've walked away from it.

lol thanks that did make me chuckle

Do turbo timers break the law regarding leaving a car unattended with the engine running? If so, why aren't they illegal on road cars?
