Octavia vrs MK2 Water Pump

Featured Replies

I'm having a timing belt changed this weekend and was going to get a new water pump fitted at the same time. There's nothing wrong with my old one but thought i would get a new water pump fitted and have an updated one with metal impellors, I've checked with the skoda dealer and all water pumps supplied by Skoda have plastic impellors. Can anyone advise where you can get the water pump with metal impellors. Would i be wasting my time changing it otherwise???

TBH i wouldn,t bother changing it.

I had my timing belt changed recently at a Skoda dealer (2.0TDI). I contacted Skoda before hand to see their recommendation regarding water pump change as I had conflicting quotes with/without water pump. They called me back to say there was no specific requirement to change the pump during a cam belt change. However, they also advised that it would cost me roughly the same amount again if the pump failed.

Given the car had only done 50k I decided not to do it.

In the end its your choice.
