swapping GPS for radio / bluetooth

Featured Replies

I've already had the misfortune of having the GPS unit removed by force twice from my Superb. As I'm about to go on a road trip to a less respectable part of the world, I thought I'd have the GPS unit pulled out and a relatively bog standard radio unit installed in its place.

However, the local skoda dealer has told me that is not technically possible to do. I'm more than a little confused knowing that the GPS unit is an extra and having seen a number of superbs with a standard radio unit. I should point out there is a CD changer in the trunk that I want to keep and an aux in for MP3s would be a bonus.

Am I missing something? Can anyone tell me the part number of the radio unit I should tell them I want installed?

Also, I note that the superb II has a bluetooth option. Can this be retrofitted to the original superb?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sympathies, I'm amazed that anyone steals something with "Skoda" written on it. I was under the impression that one of the best things about owning a Skoda was that thieves wouldn't be seen dead near one as they are deeply "uncool" cars?

BUT obviously NOT the SatNav???

But the (OEM) SatNav does have Skoda written on it? Beats me why anyone would nick it, mine is useless, I use a map book. You cannot enter a full post code and that is seriously BIG failing in the unit. When on major A roads or motorways it often says you're off the road!
