Octavia Hatch 05>08 Dog Guard

Featured Replies

I have managed to get a genuine Skoda Hatchback 05>08 dog guard, second hand, but it did not have any instructions with it.

Does anyone have some instructions that they could possible copy and scan and email them to me, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike.

would that be for the knack of fitting this guard?? as it is a pain in the a*se

It took me ages (as I don't use it that much) to work out the best way. Anyway, no I didnt get any instructions not that I can remember.

Put the dog guard into the car through the rear doors, after dropping the rear seats. Offer up the lower brackets into the lugs in the car, then manoeuvre the guard so that the upper brackets sit on the seat back locking latches, just make sure you don't trap the rear seat belts behind the dog guard. As has been said above, it can be a pig to get in, and there have been threads on here saying the brackets are slightly out of position but it should sit flush once all the brackets are correctly aligned.

If you've got the clamps with screws, bin them, you don't need them. The rear seat holds the dog guard tightly in place, and you won't need to mess about unbolting the clamps if they're not there.

Anyway, a couple of photos of how it fits -- sorry, mine was an eBay special and I didn't get any instructions

Hope this helps

Mike

I fit mine from putting through the hatch first! I am sure that when I first tried getting in through the doors I couldn't get it in?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that info and pictures.

Mine too was an Ebay purchase but from a Skoda garage hence probably why no instructions as it was second hand, obviously taken out of a part exchange vehicle.

I kind of worked out how it went but was not sure about how the lower fixing brackets worked as couldn't see how you would get at the screws.

Anyway, another answer from this thread says to leave off the lower bracket and screws as they are not required as the rear seats will hold the guard firmly in place.

Thanks again,

Mike.

mike yours doesnt look like a genuine skoda one, just an aftermarket, mine is a genuine one and could be done through the boot, the dog guard came with screw clamp thing to screw the clamp thing around the bottom eye thing that you clip the luggage nets too. Parcel shelf still goes in and fits ok even through it wont go spirit level flat.

Mine is from when I bought the car in May 05' so it is not the modified one you mention?? The side hooks on yours look slightly different. I am using mine on Saturday so will try again through the doors

im with loz on this one, it doesnt like like a genuine one unless its one for a mk1? but if it fits and you are happy with it then thats the main thing.
