SE or Elegance?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am starting the ball rolling for a new Superb 170CR.

Not that fussed about too many electrical gadgets (seats, navigation) nor the bigger wheels (noisy & expensive tyres) but would miss the Xenons which are great on the Scout.

Is the Elegance THAT much better for nearly a £3k difference?

Have any owners experienced the differences between the two specs?

Thanks,

W.

Go for the elegance and enjoy all the toys!!

you can add Xenons to the SE now I think

we bought elegance as we wanted xenons and electric seats (seats are more adjustable and much more comfortable for me). we also like the columbus music system. not fussed about the sat nav but if the do the sums we reckoned we effectively got the sat nav for free ! we ordered with 17" wheels as we too dont like big wheels. we have ended up putting 16" on as we prefer them.

Not waiting for the estate 4x4 version? ;)

I looked at both, and decided the Elegance was worth the extra money.

As jcblincs says, you do get an awful lot more for your money. It would cost way more to add those options to the SE.

If you can, go look at both cars, and make up your own mind.

I would also think that the Elegance would fare better from a resale perspective. It does have a lot of very desirable toys that a prospective buyer might be interested in.

Prefer the seats on the SE and do not require the extras of the Elegance, mine is a company car and if it was my money I would go for the Elegance as is good value for money for what you get, although the Columbus is not all it's cracked up to be, I fitted one for a few days and went back to the Bolero unit as 6 CD changer and support for larger SD card was more preferable and TomTom far better for navigation.

go with the one that u will enjoy the most in all conditions etc i would have the elegance

If I was buying one I'd have an SE for certain, unless money was no object, in which case I'd be opting for the BMW/Merc :P

Poverty spec (well almost ) 320d se for higher price than a fully loaded elegance Cr170.

I know, I looked into it very seriously. (BMW offered a better discount mind you.. Changed days or what??)

Try speccing up 320D with half the toys on the elegance and you are serously looking at 30 grand.

Thanks for your comments, I have looked at both & I think I may stick with an SE CR, I don't think the extra toys are really going to keep their novelty value for long & soon I will be wishing I'd saved that £3K, but may stretch for the Xenons as an option.

Scouter - I won't be going for an estate this time, especially given the fact the size of the hatch with the seats down.

I have the Superb 1.8 TSI DSG Elegance as company car, with upgraded sound system and metallic paint as options. Two colleagues who work in the same company than me have chosen the new Audi A4 as company car, with the following options: xenon, metallic paint, Multitronic (which should be called "ProblemTronic"), cruise control, folding rear seats (it's an extra! eek.gif), front armrest, bluetooth (almost 900 euros !!! ), dual climate eek.gif and four wheels (fortunately not an extra biggrin.giftongue.gif). Compared to the Skoda, they lack of electric seats, parking sensor, 6CD radio, a decent phone that can be used via the touchscreen, and many more.

I entered on the Audi website and configurate an A4 with the same specs as my Superb. The Superb price was 32.000 euros, instead of 44.000 euros for the A4 :tipspecs:

If you put both cars side by side (literally), the Skoda is bigger, roomy, more comfortable (bigger wheelbase), it has an excellent gearbox (7-speed DSG) instead of ProblemTronic, maintenance costs are cheaper, and building quality is similar (when not exactly the same).

So, why people choose the Audi?

The only reason I can think about it's to have the special olimpics badge in the front of the car ne_nau.gif
