Repacing steering angle sensor - 4x4 estate

Featured Replies

I recently had to replace my steering angle sensor @ 101k miles. It had ben showing intermitant errors in VAG com for a while and finally gave it up.

I replaced it, very easy bar removing the steering wheel! I spent ages trying to release the dam airbag!

Anyway to the point of this post, when trying to set the zero position for the sensor in VAG com I was struggling to find the measuring block in basic settings. I tried 001 & 060 for a while - nothing. (I am using a third party cable)

Persistance finally paid off under block 060 and the setting was zeroed. This is on a U1 chasis. Maybe it has something to do with my cable? Not sure, anyway I couldn't find a reference to the block on here and just wanted to point it out.

ESP now all working again!

There is a listing on the Ross Tech wiki under Octavia then brakes that gives a setting procedure and also which blocks to check it has set correctly, hth , Dave
