Fitting a Radar detector.

Featured Replies

I have a snooper to fit to my Occy VRS and would like to have it wired in rather than use the cig lighter (as it is miles away) can someone let me know the best/easiest place to pick up a wiring point without causing any damage. Thanks

Right thanks, are the stereos easy to remove then? Do i need any special tools to do it? Where are you running your wires from it? I don't suppose you have any pics do you?

:)

Good idea to grab an ISO extender for the radio wiring. Then you can butcher that and take it to the next car with you.

Ok cheers, i'll have a look and see what i can do.

i took out the interior light cluster found a live feed and soldered the lead onto it hey presto snooper sits behind the mirror and no long leads to look at.

Now that sounds like a good idea, i like the sound of that, do you just use the suction cups to hold it in place?

That looks good :) i think i will go for that setup, i wonder if there is a wire which is switched from the ignition in there, or are they live all the time so you have to turn it on and off every time you get in?

Mine's wired into the rear cigarette lighter socket. That's controlled via the same switch as the rear window switches.

Not sure if the Skodas have a similar wiring setup though.

Mine was wired into the radio in my last car. Took it out, got another lead from snooper and soldered them together. hey presto... double length lead.

i used a lead from a nokia phone charger, the plug fits perfectly, i had a play around in the light cluster and found a switched live, and permanent live and used the suction cups to hold the snooper on the screen.
