Replacing A Smashed Fog Light !

Featured Replies

Drivers fog light was smashed by a Stone on Friday/Saturday

Sunday morning i went to remove the broken unit.

Had to remove the Headlight to get at two vertical screws .

The Fog trim & Bottom Left Grille Trim

After a lot of cursing , i finally had the Fog light loosened but i couldn't take it out, as there was no room for it to go anywhere.

Contemplated unfastening the horn but , this still wouldn't be enough.

Am i right in thinking i have to remove the Front bloody bumper to replace a fog light !!!

If so, Can someone PLEASE direct me towards a proper method to removing the front bumper !!!

I will be buying a new unit and i might as well get a fist full of those clips that will enevitably break or disfigure when removing !!

Much appreciated

Tom

I can't say for certain, but the method for the Mk1 Fabia is to remove the clips connecting the bottom of the bumper to the undertray (push in / pull out the central pin [depends on the type], then pull the whole thing out), then remove any Torx screws. Next, remove the torx screws connecting the bumper to the wheelarch liners, and then remove the big Torx screws connecting the top-middle of the bumper to the chassis (behind the grille). It will probably be clipped in where it joins the wings, so pull / peel each side off. This will take a bit of force, but the bumper plastic is remarkably tough. Lastly, make sure any wiring connectors are undone before you pull the bumper away completely... :)

The job seems intimidating, but isn't really. I've had to have mine off several times for various reasons, and it probably only takes 10 minutes once you know what you're doing!

I'm affraid you DO need to remove the front bumper ........................... but it's not as bad as it may sound!

There are three Torx screws T25 along the top part of the bumper which obviously need removing, the remaining Torx screws are all T20 and are fixed to the inside of the wheel arch and underside of the bumper. There are also some plastic 'fixings' which at first glance look difficult to remove but all you need is a flat headed screw driver and a pair of pliars to lever the center and you'll easily get the idea on how to remove them. Finally, before removing the bumper you'll need to remove the last remaining screws which hide behind the bottom side grilles, you'll need to 'pop' them out first to find them.

Now you are ready to remove the bumper (if you have Xenons then you'll no doubt have headlight washers so make sure you have a small bucket and a clamp to stop the washer bottle draining away), now simply 'pop' the side of the bumper away from the bodywork and it should come away (you'll now need to unclip the wiring to the fog lights). Easier with two people but can be done on your own

Simples ;)

Edit: Tip, have a blanket or something soft to lay your bumper on to save sctratching it.

PS. Not sure if you need to remove the undertray during this procedure ..................... but the headlights do need removing first.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

So there is no need to remove the headlights ? ?

Cheers Mate

You need to remove them too because there are 2 plastic "thingis" under each headlamp.

If you have headlampwashers you need to remove the water hoses that go into tem. You can do this by simply pulling the bumper out of the way and placing it gently to the ground right in front of the car. You also need to remove the foglamps wires before you can take the bumper "all out" and replace the foglamp.

The foglight is held in place by 3 screews.
