New vRS - TFSI or TSI?

Featured Replies

Can anyone clear up what petrol engine the FL vRS will be/is fitted with? In the latest UK Skoda brochure it says 'TFSI', but in the Czech one which I saw in a link on here somewhere it says 'TSI'.

I know both engines remain at the same output of 200PS, but otherwise what are the differences - strength, economy, tuning potential?

Thanks.

As far as i know they are TSi in the UK

I think they have changed the Cambelt to a Chain aswell iirc

Lummox is the man to ask

I asked James at Allams exactly the same question this morning. He assures me that it is the TSI engine, the same as in the Scirroco!!

Something else he told me was the VAT free offer extends to options as well

id definately try to get one with the tsi engine if you plan on remaping etc.

i hear the fuel pump is capable of higher flow than the TFSI fuel pump so you'll save yourself a pretty penny there. TFSI owners have to shell out £300-600 for pump upgrade to get higher thsn stage 2

that info is from the golf gti forum

My Pump cost £200 :P

Excellent, thanks both of you.

Along with the VAT free offer, 0% finance, and above-book trade-in on my Fabia estate it seemed reckless not to tick a few boxes on the options list for the new vRS! The dealer was also keen to get close to a well-known internet brokers price.

My Pump cost £200 :P

mine must be 100 times betterer cos it cost £100 more....although it is the same pump:rolleyes:

TSI Stage 2 is basically the same as Stage 2+ on a TFSI.

Personally I think the facelift vRS looks pretty awesome, I'm considering swapping for one tbh!!

i disagree there id take the engine, but thats it. i cant stand that new steering wheel with the chrome on it either, and i think the headlights look out of place.

Really? Was I that generous.

First thing I'd do is swap the wheel for a flat bottomed R32 wheel then the interior is bareable

yeah that would be very nice. i can imagine that being quite an expensive job to do though due to the air bags etc

Yeh it would be nice but tbh I probably wouldn't bother due to the cost as you point out.

Rather put the money towards a Scirocco R anyday :D

Sorry i forgot to mention the Pint :D:D

Carl:thumbup:

Airbag you can get for about £250-£300 so it depends on how much your willing to pay for the whole lot

I posted a question in the Revo section about this, as far as i can see there don't appear to be any remaps available yet for the TSI. Does anyone know any different? Will the gains be similar to what is quoted for the Scirroco? (yes i know the figures are optimistic!).

Will be looking to get my facelift VRS mapped asap when it is delivered in September (hopefully!).

REVO do offer remaps for 2.0TSI engines so I believe. I would imagine figures would be similar to the Scirocco, yes.

Can anyone with a new FL VRS verify this? Does your engine cover say TSI not FSI and is the airfilter box now located next to the battery? (See below pics)

If it is the TSI thats in the Scirocco then a stage 1 REVO (according to their website) will give 266hp and 313lbs !! A Superchips bluefin stage 1 will give 262hp and 288lbs (although we know the figures for both Revo and Bluefin are usually slightly exaggerated, but even so whooo hoooo :D:D c'mon October when my FL arrives!!!) Its also alot easier to fit a CAI kit and keep the existing engine cover.

29922.attach

surely not with just stage 1 66 bhp from just remap, not bhappening i dont think

LOL I know simon I'm just going on their website quotes, (which are never reached on other rolling roads). Still I'd be over the moon with (dyno proven) 250hp from stage 1 and therefore hope for around 270bhp stage 2 with a filter/CAI and sportscat/downpipe.

its like it said before stage 2 on a TSI is the same as stage 2+ on a TFSI so 270-280bhp and above 300Ibft torque
