As above really, mine has failed and needs replacing/repairing and I need to get it off, but it doesn't seem to be screwed onto the ABS pump in an obvious fashion. Does anyone know how to separate the controller from the pump in situ or is it a pump out job?

If it can be and not all can it will be four small male torx bolts around the outside. Pump will have to be out to do it.

there's nothing on the plastic to unscrew, the only screws are on the metal side of the pump
