octavia 1.9 tdi 90hp tour common problems ?

Featured Replies

Hello I thinking to buy used Octavia tour 1.9tdi 2005 90hp what I need to check... it has 120 000km on clock. And what you think about that model? If someone has experience is that good car?

:cool::cool:

Hiya.

No particular issues with that model, except for making sure that the central locking, all electrics with switches on the driver's door, and the rear washer all work correctly.

Hi,

As with all cars, check the service history.

In particular, you want to know when the cambelt was last changed and if is due.

cam belt changed on 90 000 last year i have paper and i know owner.. what you think what is more durable this old technology TDI or newer TDI PD.. i will check all electric equipment :) tnx

Others may have a different opinion, but I think the older technology is much more reliable.

In theory, the newer CR engines will be as reliable or more so, but it is too early to tell.

PD is dead!

I didn't think the 90 was ever a PD?

IIRC, the lowest powered PD was 105.

I have similar opinion and thinking like you PD is to much expensive also have more complicate than old TDI.

Its look like i will take today that Octavia any suggestions what to check in engine ?

Check for any evidence of over-heating, water in oil, and that the glowplug light goes out before the seatbelt reminder (yes really).

Sorry. It could indicate a problem with the glowplug control box; it normally cycles in about 2s on these cars.

how often need to change timing belt because its changed on 90 000 before one year.. now is 120 000

I think the cam belt change on the 90 tdi was 80,000 miles (125,000km). Sticking turbo vanes (vnt) is another problem on this unit, they can be cleaned. The turbo will overboost and go to limp mode when they get sticky.
