16000 mile service

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Octavia 1.9 TDI, bought Jan '08, has recently come up with a spanner, suggesting it needs servicing, having done 16600 miles.

I rang my local Skoda dealer, and they quoted £205 for the interim service.

Is this a good deal? What do people recommend, in terms of getting this done? Is it worth going to a local dealer? (and if so, are they guaranteed to service it to the manufacturer's specifications in terms of maintaining the 3 year warranty?) Or is it worth considering "prestige servicing" whose name comes up prominently on Google?

Thanks in advance,

Bob.

£205 is quite a lot of money for a service; might be worth shopping around and seeing if you can better it.

With the EU block exemption you don't need to have your car serviced at a main dealer to maintain warranty :)

Is there anything I need to check if I decide to go to an independent dealer then? I know they have to use official Skoda parts, but is there anything else needed for this to be an "official" service? And will garages be able to access the on-board computer etc?

Thanks.

They need to be VAT registered and use genuine parts

My dealer quoted me £200 for this too but iam letting them do it as they are a great garage

£120-160 seems common from posts here.
