skoda vrs roof rack?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2006 octavia vrs . I was wondering if there was any way you can fit a roof box?

There are no visable signs that one could be attached. Can anyone help? Please. Helen

Yeah, it is quite possible. You need to get roof bars first. The box would then attach to the bars. I assume you have a hatch, not estate, but I am sure someone on here will tell you exactly what parts you need. In the mean time, check out The Roof Box Company: sales and hire of bike racks car rack bike carrier bike rack, Thule roof boxes, Atera, Autoform, Kamei and Karrite roofboxes, roof bars, bike carriers, snow chains and other car and travel accessories

Expanding on this, can somebody clarify the fact that apparently it is very easy to damage the mounts for roof bars on the Octy hatch?

I need to carry two MTB's and previously I've used roof mounted carriers but if this IS the case then I'm going to investigate an alternative!

If you open the doors and look up,there is a 6mm screw hole on each door frame.

This is where you attach the fixing kit.

I searched everywhere and these were the cheapest and a good product.I bought the Cambar ones.

Very easy to fit, but can be easily damaged IF you don't read the instructions properly. The roff shape means the front and rear bar are different lengths (or set at different lengths for such as Thule) and the feet are opposite fittings - the front right is the same as rear left etc. Fit wrongly and you will be screwing off set into the mounts. So in answering wardth - no it is not easy as long as you do it right!

Many, many cars have the same - Vauxhall Cavaliers did from the Mk2 in the 1980s so the fitting is entirely safe, easy and damage free for those who READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!. Then again as it appears no one ever bothers to read the vehicles handbook..............................( Reading it shows exactly where the fittings are and how roof bars fit!! )

I've used the Skoda roof bars with Mont Blanc Barracuda carriers for 3 1/2 years now and so far they have worked fine with 3 MTB on. As fireftrm and other have said, you must follow the instructions and not tighten the clamps beyond the recommended settings or damage will happen!

Does anyone know whether the Skoda roof bars for the hatchback are the aero type?

They look like they are made out of aluminium in the brochures, but are they the aero type?

They are Aero "T" section bars.

Any pics of them, or at least the foot part so I can get an idea what they look like compared to the Thules or Paddys?

if you have a towbar, you could use a thule towbar mounted cycle rack, easy to use, no damage and piece of mind............ simples...
