I'm trying to swap ecu''s on octi vrs's.

The question i have is how do i get round the adaption part in VAg com?

I have the 4 digit code but it only gives me the option to either enter a 7 digit code or new value..

Anybody help on this part?

Enter your 4-digit SKC with a leading zero.

eg SKC=1234 then enter 01234

Sorry i should have explained myself a bit better.

When doing this...

  1. With the USED ECU (ECU #2) in vehicle, (the Immobilizer light will be flashing, that's okay for now)
    [select]
    [01 - Engine]
    [Login - 11]
    [use 7-digit PIN/SKC]
Enter the 7-digit PIN from ECU #2, Date on which the PIN was GENERATED BY THE DEALER, along with the dealer's Workshop Code (WSC) and the Importer number
    [OK]
    [Do-It!]
(You just "introduced" yourself to ECU#2 and the ECU should listen to you since you knew how to login. The ECU is now ready to learn its new home.)

  2. [Adaptation - 10]
    Enter 50 in Channel Number
    [Read]
    [use 7-digit PIN/SKC]
Enter the 7-digit PIN from ECU#1, Date on which the PIN was GENERATED BY THE DEALER, along with the dealer's Workshop Code (WSC) and the Importer number
    [OK]
    [Test]
    [save]
    [Done, Go Back]
(You just told ECU#2 that it has a new home, and that it should make friends with the Instrument Cluster.)

I can do number 1 no problem using the 4 digit Pin however its number 2 i have the problem with as the option i have is either

Enter a new value??

Or use 7 Digit pin.

I hope this makes sense

You didn't say what year the car was but try this...

[select]

[17 - Instruments]

[Adaptation - 10]

Leave channel at "00"

[Read]

[save]

[Done, Go Back]

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

[Exit]

Remove the ignition key. Wait about 30 seconds. Try starting the car.

Doh The car is a 02 so using Immo 3...I'm sure there must be a way to do this but i can't find where i'm going wrong.

With Immo3, I have only ever used 7 digit SKC's.

Do you have an SKC for the old ECU?

The dealer can generate a 7 digit SKC from a 14-digit immobilser ID. You can get the old immobilser ID from the extra field in instruments. You don't have put the old ECU back in.

I don't have the 7 digit SKC..I just pulled the 4 digit one using VAG Tacho.... I believe this is the master code??

I would like to try and get this working using the 4 digit code if possible.

Dealers cannot generate a 7 digit skc code

I've just had a play with VCDS 805.4 and it works using 4-digit SKCs (no leading zeroes), 7-digit SKCs or a mix. My guess is when you click on [use 7-digit PIN/SKC] and enter the details it decodes it to a 4-digit and uses 4-digit codes when talking to the cluster/ECU.

Are you sure you have the correct SKC for the old ECU?

PS/

Andymod is probably correct. With the latest system the mechanics don't see the codes. The only time I requested a 7-digit code was when VW first starting using them (2002?). I gave the service manager my 14 digit immo ID and he gave me the SKC/WSC. The car was never connected.
