New Vrs or limited edition?

Featured Replies

I currently drive a VW Passat but am about to change, very tempted by Vrs diesel. I popped into local dealer to look at a Limited edition estate, but then saw the facelift so am pretty confused!. I like the look of the LE & it has a lot of extras as standard which I would have to pay for with new model. such as metallic/auto dim mirror/parking sensors/full leather, all this for 17K, which is a couple of grand less than facelift with same spec.

Is it worth paying the extra for facelift?.

If I go for the facelift, how far can I push the dealer?, he has offered good PX, the cheap finance, so I guess their margins must be pretty small. Do you think they would throw in parking sensors & auto dim mirror for example?

Also can anyone confirm if you can have a sunroof in Facelift Vrs?, The brocure dosn't say you cannot. You can have sunroof in every other model in the range, why not Vrs?

Thanks in advance..

The LE does not come with parking sensors, I was offered them when I bought mine as an extra but declined, some good specs and prices in this thread of the FL & LE at £17-£17.5K.

FWIW I preferred the LEs older style headlight, but the FL has nice 18" alloys - Neptunes so it is swings and roundabous, the Leather in the LE is the nicest I have seen in any Skoda. Good luck mate, whatever you get it is a great car - LE or FL VRS.

I bit the bullet & pick up LE estate in a few weeks, pre-reg at a good price..

I chose this over the facelift as I preferred the traditional understated Skoda look, which is a big attraction.

I may be alone here, but just not convinced about the facelift look. The headlights just look wrong to me, a bit too 'bling' for a Skoda. And I disliked the Audi look LEDs. Each to their own!

My views exactly mate I could have held off the FL but opted for a LE. Enjoy the new car it is a belter.

really enjoying my le estate quick enough and 40mpg average , also get your dealer to replace limited edition badge for updated version

Face lift. You wouldn't buy a CRT TV now would you ;)

I would I think the picture on LCD TV's is pretty dire, especially when looking at shimmering water.

Not exactly the right analogy, more like choosing betwen a 2008 Samsung LCD or 2009 with the same components but with an uglier casing (in some peoples opinion!)

Well the petrol LE has the new TSI engine as in the facelifted model (I think the oil burner is identical too), and I also prefer the old body/lights. And the LE seats are real class. The only thing I think the LE could have really done with is rear parking sensors as rear visibility isn't the best, but if you can get as a dealer fit then do so. So that would then leave the only other 2 reasons for getting a new facelifted vRS - 1) you can choose your colour; 2) you can get DSG as an extra. If neither of those matters then I would say LE :)

Spot on dude, I was offered parking sensors on mine did not need them. The seats are something else. One thing I'd say though is that even though I am not sold on the look of the headlights of the FL VRS, it would not stop me buying it, the deals I am seeing for FLs these days with full spec lists is stunning. But I am glad I opted for the LE - CR 170 same as the FL in manual. Colour did matter for me, I wanted the Anthracite .

BTW chaps if we are talking CRTs - the best picture you will see from Standard Def TV, ie Freeview or Sky non HD material is actually on a 36" CRT with a RGB Scart. I know I have one and I have Sky HD too with a 1080P Sony 40" LCD. On standard material the CRT honks the LCD TV, but when you feed a LCD a 1080P signal, well that is a different ballgame. So daft anology IMHO.

OK then, to continue my TV analogy, what about the stand for one TV for one having nice wheels and the stand for the other one having erm, different wheels ;)
