My y reg Fabia (1.4) suddenly will not engage in second gear. There is a rattling noise before it happens and then it just wil not go into second gear. The other gears work fine.

Anybody come across this before?

Most likely broken syncro ring for 2nd. Gearbox rebuild time.

Yep. If the other gears are fine then it's the sychro or selector.

Probably be cheaper to source a second hand box off a scrapper
