Newbie looking to buy a VRS - quick question

Featured Replies

Hi all

After thinking through all the options for literally months, I've finally decided an Octy VRS is a car that ticks all the right boxes for my next car. Sporty, frugal, comfortable, room for the kids etc etc. I think even the Mother-In-Law might approve (she still thinks my Misubishi FTO isn't a practical family car ).

Now, having been reading all I can from this brilliant forum, I now have the cash burning a hole in my pocket. I'm looking to spend between 0 and 11k, the less I spend the more I have to refurbish our lounge.

A car has caught my eye on Autotrader, it's a Black 06 FSI, No MaxiDot or Jumbo which is a shame. Ideally I'd go for a slightly lower mileage 07 Blue one with the options. However the price makes me consider it, as the 07 ones to the spec I want are about 3k more.

The car in question though has the Green callipers. Now from reading around this means it's an 06 model (which means slightly more on 07 Reg cars I guess). But my question is are there big difference between the 06 (green callipers) and 07 (red callipers) models. Am I better of spending the extra on an 07 Model?

There have been very few coming up for sale in the past month. Maybe I just need to bide my time.

Many thanks in advance.

not any differences that count i dont think, as for the extras , i have none and dont miss any of them , its the car itself that matters , mines a 55 and done 19k and is pretty clean and i'm happy with it.

I believe the red caliper model came with 18 inch rims, electric rear windows and jumbo box with Aux socket as standard. The Green caliper model was offered with what I think was called a 'comfort pack' which included all the above (except the aux in) for around £450 and I think a lot would have been ordered with it - mine certainly was. I guess none of these are must-haves, but personally I wouldn't be without my Xenon headlights, which are an option well work seeking out.

I think the main difference was the aux socket in the arm rest

Excellent. So the car is the same it's just a case of which options came as standard (more from 07 onwards). I'd like The AUX socket, Rear electric windows and 18 inch wheels. Just have to decide if it's worth missing out on them to save a few quid. Decisions decisions....

Thanks for the replies :D

Might be selling mine if your interested

Cruise control

E/W x4

Dual zone climate

Extra airbags

Stunning condition (I'm sure others will testify)

Only mods are pipercross replacement panel filter

Neuspeed shortshift gear selector (makes gearchanges a joy)

Forge adjustable blow off valve which can be turned to silent or removed in no time

New 19" RS4 alloys/tyres that can be replaced back to standard if you preferred

Just been detailed by myself, so pristine inside and out

Never been remapped or thrashed in any way, only 1 previous owner (another briskodian)

I guarantee you will not find a nicer example

Always warmed up and cooled down properly, always ran on Shell V Power (receipts to prove)

Pictures can be seen in Members cars (you might have to subscribe to Briskoda to see that section, can't remember but it's worth joining freedom anyway)

The all important price is £8600 as it is or £8400 standard, but tbh the mods you could sell for way more than £200 so it would be in your interest to buy it as is.

PM me if you want any more info

Cheers
