skoda octavia problem

Featured Replies

hi i have a skoda octavia mark 1 taxi and ill just had problems pulling away in first gear , it felt like something was under the wheel and then suddenly just went , anyway that was this afternoon but ive just put it in reverse and it seems to be sticking and making a bit of a noise is this a gearbox problem , which i had reconditioned about 65,000 miles ago (18 month ) or clutch problem , incidentlty i have heard a slit whin from changing 1st and 2nd in the last few weeks

thanks in advance darren

Sounds quite possibly to be the gearbox again.Does the clutch make any noises ? or is it slipping/juddering?

i havent noticed the clutch slipping , but i have noticed a slight whine when you go through 1st and 2nd gear , when the gearbox went last time it was different symptoms and also i had problems getting into gear but im not having that problem this evening

i would check the linkage mate sounds like thats the prob to me......

hi thanks for that ................ what is the linkage

the cables that connect the lever to the gearbox may bee the problem. to be more specific is 1 of the cables that can bee adjusted by moving the position of a screw. (sorry for my bad english ill make somme fotos to my car and post it so you can undarsaind what i mean). At my car they said too the old owner that is the gearbox who is faulty and they ask 2000€ for a repalce (a good thing as i get a better price ) in not even 2 min by adjusting that screw i get too have the schifting smouth and easy as a new car...

Gear shift cable adjustment is simple and is shown well in the Haynes Manual but this corrects a problem of actually getting the car into gear.

If the car felt like it was driving over something and then released itself then it is more likely something in the power transmission chain or a jammed on brake (such as a sticking calliper slide)

My first thought was that the wheel had been on something slippery (spilt oil, a very polihed drain cover...)
