.... where is the air box on an Octavia TFSI VRS and how do I get to it to change the air filter?

haha , your not an idiot mate , its a funny system, the air filter is in the big plastic cover on top off the engine and is a pig to do . lol.

take the hose off the front and rear , along with the plug at the rear of the box , then pull like buggery at each corner , its just a case of pulling it off 4 lugs , be careful not to crack it .

when its of the filter fits in underneath , just undo the nuts and it splits.

thats a quick description , but if you do a search i think there may be a proper description .

The engine cover is best removed when the engine is warm as the rubber bungs are more flexible. There is a sequence to pull in as well.

Top right, pull upwards and towards the front of the car.

Then bottom right

Then bottom left

Then top left.

When you refit it use plenty of silicone spray on the rubbers.

To get to the air filter undo all the screws and the bottom piece and top piece interlock at the back.

Just hinge the bottom piece around the back.

It makes it a lot easier for next time if you put a bit of grease on each engine cover lug.
