OE Immob - Cat 2 ?

Featured Replies

ive just noticed on my insurance renewal that 'this quote is subject to the vehicle being fitted with a Cat2 immobiliser'

ive got a 53 plate, 2004, Fabia vRS, is the OE security fitted to it Thatcham rated in any way

Insurance category 9E/18E

E = Exceeds the security requirement for a car of this type and the group rating has been reduced – so a group 10 car that exceeds the standard is listed as a 9E.

So yes Alarm = >Thatcham Cat1

Immo = > Thatcham Cat2

New INS group rating

so are you saying the alarm is Cat 1 rated ?

Read it somewhere in the official literature, Alarm is Cat1

Hence the E rating

Immo alone can only be rated as Cat2 max

if the alarm is Cat 1 then the whole system is above Cat 2 anyway so that would suffice, ive just read that the alarm is rolling code so its possible it could be Cat 1

thanks Mike, its on that list as a Cat 1 so ive nothing to worry about
