As they are supposedly available from today - anyone picked theirs up yet? I guess anyone who has would be far too busy playing in it to post pics/reviews up but as I have to wait another 6 weeks for mine it would be good to see some....(especially in candy white please!) ....

I actually saw one on the M6 at the weekend with a private plate. It was in Race Blue (the same as mine), and it looked good

They've been in the showrooms since July so should be a far number around now.

I was hoping to pick mine up today but it's still on the boat as far as I know.

mine is due the last week of september, they must be thin on the ground - i havent seen a facelift vrs on the road yet.

I wonder how they work it..do you think they just load a ship up with deliveries for different parts of europe then just drop off at various ports...I dont know if they shift enough metal to have a boat that comes here only

I see the car transporters coming into the Tyne and they are huge so must be transporting a whole lot of cars at one time

It seems to be about 2 weeks from the factory to the port in Germany.

They then said that it is normally 4 days to take into account the actual boat trip, plus the docks (customs I guess) either side. And then another 3 days until the dealer gets it.

Either way it is taking too loooooong :(

I was notified today that my car is at the port in germany, built last week (week 35) but it would be about a week before they are contacted by the uk delivery contractors to establish a delivery date to the dealers, then 3 days for admin and pdi before we collect!.

how much of the above is dealer bs i don't know.

Dealer told me mine was put on the boat on the 28th and its still not showing on the system as arrived at Grimsby yet!

In all honesty I prefer the 05-on shape, I dont like the look of the front and I prefer the old style lettering on the back.

After seeing how good your car looked in the original post Paul I had an 'impulse buy' moment. So the next day I ordered the same. Hoping it will be here next month.

I ordered it on 21st August but think it took a day or two before they put it into the system. Was in the dealership yesterday and they were telling me that some cars won't be ready until February(!) Don't think this is Octy vRS's, more like Fabias etc. Don't think I could wait that long....

I'm tempted to put an order in for a FL vRS but I'm worried my local dealer is quoting an 8-9 wk delivery time just to get a sale, esp. when I read some of the above (7wks from order to build) and maybe several weeks sat in various ports (or poss 12-14 delivery time). Signing up for a new car looks good value (with the current UK VAT free offer) but it would leave a very sour taste in the mouth if it didn't turn up before the 31/12/09 and I was faced with an extra £3k bill at delivery.

But surely if you've signed up to buy the car at a certain price, then that price should stay as agreed regardless of whether the delivery takes longer than quoted, so I wouldn't expect to have to pay £3k more.

Oooh that's a bit worrying then....I saw their computer screen yesterday that said the build date was wk40/41, so hopefully that's proof enough that it will be here. Going back there later to pick my current car up so will check this with them...

Just picked my car up from the dealership from where I've ordered my new one and mentioned this thread to them - They told me that they have another one that was ordered around the same time, only difference being that it is an estate and has leather, and that is showing on the system as January next year.

So maybe it's the estate or leather that is causing the delay?

Either that or I guess I was just lucky....

You'd be asked to pay the extra 2.5%, its not a "VAT free" but a 15% discount which you get when you order the car.
